Project Next Generation

This program will introduce participants to the basics of coding and robotics. With this grant, the library will introduce the Ozobot 2.0 Bit Robot. Using the Ozobots participants will learn the basics of block coding with colors and sequencing to introduce them to simple coding concepts. Using the concepts learned from the Ozobots, participants will then be challenged to program Spheros. The library will introduce Sphero SPRK robots. Participants will have different coding goals each week and will have to code the Sphero robots by using different commands and interfaces. Using digital cameras participants will record a video of the robots in action which will be displayed at a culminating Community Showcase event. This program will be run by library staff and community members. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
