The Chicago Ridge Public Library’s Homebound Library Service provides delivery and pick up of library items to patrons who are physically unable to come to the library. This service is available to Chicago Ridge residents unable to come to the library due to mobility, health or disability barriers. We will pick up and deliver items every other week. If you or someone you know could potentially benefit from our Homebound Library Service, please contact us. Call (708) 423-7753 and ask for the Adult Services Desk, email firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the form on this page and bring it to the library.
Eligibility: Must be a resident of Chicago Ridge and eligible to obtain a library card.
Checkout: 10 items at one time. 4 week check out.
Materials: Books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, Blu-Rays and music CDs are all available for delivery. Because of the 4 week checkout period, some new items including DVDs may not available for delivery.
Renewals: Renewals are permitted as long as there are no holds on the item(s). Please call the library at (708) 423-7753 and speak with someone at the Adult Services Desk to renew items.
Fines: There are no fees or fines for the service or for items that are overdue. However, items that are lost or damaged while in your possession are subject to full replacement cost of the item and a $5.00 processing fee.
Ordering materials: Please call the library at (708) 423-7753 and speak with someone at the Adult Services Desk to request specific items. Otherwise, we will choose materials for you based on the preferences indicated on a materials interest form you fill out.
Dropping off/returning materials: Staff members will drop off a bag containing library items. Items need to be returned in the library bag as well. Staff members will bring items to the patron’s door but will not be able to enter the home. To the best of our ability, we will work with patrons to ensure they are able to retrieve the bag of materials without difficulty.
