Library of Things

In addition to our books, movies, music and video games, the library provides a range of other items for checkout from our Library of Things.

In-library use

The following items are available for use inside the library. Patrons may check them out for a four-hour period at the Adult Services desk, and they may be renewed as long as no one else is in need:

  • Dell laptops
  • Bike locks (available at the Circulation desk)
  • Phone chargers
  • USB C laptop charger
  • Headphones
  • VHS to DVD converter (DVDs not provided) - By appointment
  • Marantz dual cassette recorder player with USB

Phone/mobile device charging stations are available in both the Adult Services & Youth Services Department. The library is not responsible for devices left unattended at the stations.

Out-of-library use

The following items are available to be checked out and taken home for a 3 week period.

Chicago Ridge adult library card holders only:

  • Wi-Fi hotspots (90 day checkout)
  • Chromebooks
  • Roku streaming sticks
  • Portable DVD player with screen
  • Kindle Fire

Any valid library card holders:

  • Kindle e-reader
  • Blu-ray player
  • DVD player
  • Board games for youth
